This term Film Skills is partnering with Danygraig Primary in Swansea on a special project to celebrate the school's 150th anniversary! The project will involve filming throughout the term and will be launched after Easter, with the Junior STF students taking on the lead roles in the project.
On January 9th 2025 Ysgol Pen-y-Bryn and St joseph's Catholic Primary jointly launced their latests Film Skills projects at the Odeon Cinema Swansea. The films were launched to a packed cinema of learners, families and friends. Both films are now available to be watched for free on our Film Skills Youtube channel.
Coming Soon! As part of our drive to promote pupil voice in Film Skills, we will soon be launching a video & apple podcast! The podcast will be hosted by learners at Ysgol Pen-y-Bryn & will give an insight into the world of Film Skills.

Film Skills Wales Core Lessons Plans cover all AoLEs, and are designed to provide the key lessons needed to help leaners create a film. Ddraig Dysgu is the new character mascot for Film Skills. 'Dysgu' is the Welsh word for 'Learning'. Ddraig Dysgu will help bring to life the Film Skills lessons for younger learners. Click the link for lots of fun resources that can be used as part of your Film Skills projects, including colouring sheets, stickers and certificates that you can download for free!
On Thursday 11th July the latest Film Skills projects were released at a special event at the Odeon Cinema Swansea. Ysgol Pen-y-Bryn and Swiss Valley Primary both launched their projects they had been working on during the Summer Term.
The cinema screening played to a full house of leanrers, parents, and friends from both schools, along with special guests; Production Designer Edward Thomas, Doctor Who show runner Russell T Davies and film/tv director Ashley Way. Learners from both schools had a fantastic experience at the launch, with both films now available (which can be accessed in our film section on this website).
